HarrietandLeone provides a forum for the habitual practice of creative work. We begin from the premise that our surrounding networks – friends, acquaintances, colleagues –provide the richest conditions for stimulating and sustaining creative activity.
On a quarterly basis we offer to you a small yet sufficient stimulus – a word. We solicit responses that take this word as an invitation to sustain a thought through creative or critical activity.
While our contributors pull from the widest of influences, it is not just anything goes. Our approach does not call for rigorous adherence to boundaries of genre, but we insist that each work demonstrate critical engagement with the problems and questions that these traditional boundaries raise.
Established in 2005, HarrietandLeone derives its name from the founder’s two grandmothers: Harriet for her wit and stubbornness, and Leone though there was never opportunity to meet her.
